In den letzten Jahren haben wir viele gute Charaktere verloren und uns angewidert vom Bildschirm abgewandt. Aber welcher Tod war besonders schlimm, eklig oder tragisch? Alle reden nur noch vom Finale der 6. Staffel "The Walking Dead", aber seien wir mal ehrlich: Es ist nicht der erste große "WTF"-Moment von "The Walking Dead". In den letzten Jahren mussten wir uns von einer Reihe Charaktere verabschieden, die zum Teil grausam, zum Teil auch einfach nur überraschend das Zeitliche gesegnet haben. Wir haben fünfzehn Tode für euch, die wir so schnell nicht vergessen werden.
15. Shane Walsh (2x12)
Shanes Tod war vor allem in einem Punkt schockierend für die Zuschauer: Er wollte Rick eiskalt töten und seinen Platz einnehmen, weil er der Überzeugung war, ein besserer Mann an Loris Seite zu sein. Die Rivalität der beiden endete damit, dass Rick sich gezwungen sah, Shane zu töten. Kurz darauf musste Carl dem verwandelten Shane den Gnadenschuss geben. Mit Shanes Tod endete auch die schreckliche Dreiecksbeziehung von "The Walking Dead" - hallelujah!
14. Bob Stookey (5x3)
Hut ab, Bob! Der Freund von Sasha wurde nicht nur von einem Beißer angegriffen, sondern geriet auch noch in die Hände der Terminus-Kannibalen. Er musste mitansehen, wie diese sein (infiziertes) Bein auf dem Grill rösteten und sich ein Barbecue gönnten ... oder vielmehr ein Bobecue (schlechter Scherz, der musste sein). Aber selbst das tötete Bob nicht sofort! Er hatte noch so viel Leben in sich, um sich darüber zu amüsieren, dass die Terminus-Leute das falsche Bein genommen haben. Irgendwann mussten wir dann doch Abschied von Bob nehmen.
13. The Governor (4x8)
Ich habe ein Herz für Bad Boys und daher blutete mir ein kleines bisschen das Herz, als der Governor schließlich abdankte - auch wenn er es natürlich mehr als verdient hat, nachdem er Hershel getötet hat. Niemand killt unseren TWD-Weihnachtsmann und kommt ungeschoren davon! Gerade als sich der Governor mit Rick anlegt, taucht Michonne auf und ersticht den Schurken mit der Augenklappe hinterrücks. Doch der Governor stirbt nicht sofort. Im Gegenteil: Michonne will, dass er langsam und qualvoll stirbt und lässt ihn zurück. Die Schwester von Tara, Lilly Chambler, findet ihn und sieht das jedoch anders. Sie erschießt ihn.
12. Merle Dixon (3x15)
Entweder mochte man Merle oder man hat ihn gehasst. Ein einfacher Charakter war der Einarmige auf keinen Fall. Viele Fans werden sich trotzdem wehmütig an seinen Tod in der 3. Staffel erinnern - und sei es nur, weil ausgerechnet sein kleiner Bruder Daryl den verwandelten Merle zur Strecke bringen musste. Ein tränenreicher, schwerer Moment für Daryl und damit ein Tod, der bei "The Walking Dead" definitiv in Erinnerung bleibt.
11. Noah (5x14)
Einer der Gründe, wieso wir Nicholas derart hassen, ist Noahs sinnloser Tod. Bei einem Streifzug nach Vorräten, traf die kleine Gruppe auf Beißer und saß letztendlich in einer Glas-Drehtür in der Falle. Nicholas wurde panisch, dachte nur an die eigene Flucht und setzte damit Glenn und Noah den Zombies aus. Die schnappten sich sofort Noah und zerrissen ihn vor Glenns Augen. Ein grausamer Schock-Moment der 5. Staffel.
10. Tyreese (5x9)
Was lernen wir aus Tyreeses Tod? Wenn man weiß, dass sich in einem Haus Beißer befinden, sollte man sich besser nicht von ein paar Fotos an der Wand ablenken lassen. In einem Moment der Unachtsamkeit wurde Tyreese von Noahs kleinem, verwandelten Bruder gebissen. Während Noah nach Rick und den anderen suchte, halluzinierte Tyreese und bescherte uns damit ein Wiedersehen mit bereits verstorbenen Charakteren, darunter auch Beth Greene. Rick versuchte Tyreese zu retten, indem er ihm den infizierten Arm abhackte, aber auch das brachte nichts. Wie die amerikanischen Fans so gerne sagen: Tyreese is a goner.
9. Denise Cloyd (6x14)
Eines haben wir gelernt: wenn du Arzt in Alexandria bist, ist deine "TWD"-Lebensspanne sehr kurz. Denise mauserte sich innerhalb weniger Episoden zu einem absoluten Fan-Favorit. Wenn wir ehrlich sind, war sie der einzige Charakter aus Alexandria, den man ins Herz geschlossen hat und um den man sich wirklich gesorgt hat. Mit Tara schien sie die große Liebe in der Zombieapokalypse gefunden zu haben, aber die Drehbuchautoren hatten andere Pläne für Denise. Sie wurde auf die Art und Weise getötet, auf die Abraham in den Comics sterben musste: ein Savior schoss ihr einen Pfeil durch das Auge. Dwight erschoss Denise ausgerechnet mit Daryls Armbrust. Musste das wirklich sein? Da liefen doch noch genügend andere Alexandria-Bewohner herum, die man problemlos hätte opfern können. Hmpf.
8. Dale Horvath (2x11)
Ginge es nach den sinnlosesten Toden von "The Walking Dead", wäre der von Dale ganz weit oben. Vor Hershel war er der Serien-Papa, der auf alles eine Antwort hatte und einfach alles reparieren konnte. Wenn es wegen den lästigen Zombies draußen etwas heikel wurde, konnte man sich in seinem Wohnwagen eine Auszeit gönnen. Dale an seiner Seite zu haben, machte die Zombie-Apokalypse ein bisschen erträglicher. (Und steigerte die Chancen, dass man selbst nicht bei dem kleinsten technischen Problem zum Zombie-Futter wird.) Leider war Glenns Mentor kein allzu langes Leben vergönnt. Auf der Farm von Hershel wurde er von einem Beißer tödlich verletzt, den Carl gewissermaßen in diese Richtung gelockt hat. Daryl erlöst Dale schließlich von seinen Qualen und erschießt ihn mit Ricks Waffe.
7. Joe (4x16)
Joe? Wer ist eigentlich Joe? Wenn ihr gerade keine Ahnung habt, von wem ich rede, ist das kein Wunder. Joe war lediglich in ein paar Episoden der 4. Staffel "The Walking Dead" zu sehen und Anführer der Gang, die Daryl aufgenommen hat. Falls es noch immer nicht klingelt, fällt euch Joe sicherlich wieder auf die Art und Weise seines Todes ein. Ein Mitglied von Joes Gang belästigte Carl in der 4. Staffel "The Walking Dead", hätte ihn vielleicht sogar vergewaltigt und ganz gewiss getötet. Rick musste anfänglich hilflos und unbewaffnet zusehen und befand sich in der Gewalt von Joe. Um Carl zu retten, schreckte Rick vor nichts zurück und biss Joe in die Kehle/Halsschlagader, worauf dieser verblutete. Nein, ich habe natürlich kein Fünkchen Mitleid für Joe, aber sein Tod bleibt einer der schrecklichsten Momente von "The Walking Dead" - und sei es nur, weil es so unglaublich blutig und furchtbar war.
6. Jessie, Sam, Ron (6x9)
Die Familie Anderson rief bei den Zuschauern sehr gemischte Gefühle hervor. Klar, wir freuten uns alle, dass sich Rick endlich wieder verliebt hatte! (Psst, "Richonne"-Shipper!) Aber Jessies Kinder waren nur schwer zu ertragen. Ron, der ständig mörderische Blicke Richtung Carl schleuderte und Sam, der einfach nicht die Klappe halten konnte. Als die Zombie-Herde über Alexandria hereinbricht, versuchen Rick & Co mit einem altbewährten Trick nach draußen zu gelangen: sie besudeln sich mit Zombie-Blut, um sich unbemerkt einen Weg durch die Herde bahnen zu können. In Theorie klingt das nach einem klasse Plan. In der Praxis hat man dann leider Kinder wie Sam, die dann plötzlich nach ihrer Mutter rufen. Durch den Lärm angezogen, wurde Sam schnell ein Beißer-Opfer. Kurz darauf starb auch Jessie, die mitansehen musste, wie ihr jüngster Sohn bei lebendigen Leib aufgefressen wurde. Und dann hätten wir da noch Ron. Der hatte ohnehin von Anfang an vor, entweder Rick oder Carl - im besten Fall beide - zu töten. Nachdem er seine komplette Familie verloren hatte, schnappte er sich eine Waffe und wollte damit Rick erschießen. Michonne schritt ein und spießte ihn auf. Rons Kugel verfehlte zwar ihr Ziel, erwischte dafür aber Carl.
5. Lizzie & Mika (4x14)
Kinder haben es in "The Walking Dead" nicht leicht. Vor allem, wenn man eine Schwester wie Lizzie hat, die sich mit den Beißern anfreundet und alle um einen herum zu Zombies machen will. Da soll sich noch einmal jemand beklagen, wenn die eigene Schwester zu lange im Badezimmer braucht! Nachdem Lizzie ihre kleine Schwester Mika tötet, will sie auch Judith töten. Letzteres kann Carol in letzter Sekunde verhindern. Gemeinsam mit Lizzie geht sie auf die Wiese vor dem kleinen Häuschen, in dem sie Unterschlupf gefunden haben, um Blumen für die tote Mika zu sammeln. Weil Lizzie eine Gefahr für alle darstellt, sieht Carol keine andere Möglichkeit und erschießt die kleine Lizzie. Carols Spruch "Look at the flowers" ist längst Kult unter den TWD-Fans geworden. Es war einer der schlimmsten Momente der Serie - auch für Carol.
4. Lori Grimes (3x4)
Die Meinungen zu Lori Grimes gehen weit auseinander. Einige Fans dürften sich jedoch (still und heimlich) darüber gefreut haben, als sie in der 3. Staffel starb. Um ihr ungeborenes Baby zu retten, opferte sich Lori. Maggie musste einen spontanen Kaiserschnitt durchführen. Dabei verlor Lori zu viel Blut und starb schließlich, während das Kind - die kleine Judith - gerettet werden konnte. Ein Opfer, das sicherlich jede Mutter auf sich nehmen würde, um das eigene Kind zu retten. Als Lori sich in einen Beißer zu verwandeln drohte, musste sie ein weiteres Mal getötet werden. Ausgerechnet ihr Sohn Carl schoss die Kugel ab, die Lori davor bewahrte, als Untote durch das Gefängnis zu irren. Es war der bisher größte Verlust für Rick Grimes. Nicht nur Loris Tod war schwer zu ertragen, sondern auch seine Trauer, als er von ihrem Tod erfährt. (Auch wenn das mittlerweile zu einem recht witzigen Meme umfunktioniert wurde.)
3. "Glenn Rhee" / Nicholas (6x3)
Keine Angst, Glenn ist (noch) am Leben, aber in der 6. Staffel jagte uns "The Walking Dead" einen gehörigen Schrecken ein. Nachdem sich Nicholas in einer aussichtslosen Situation vor Glenn in den Kopf schoss, versuchte dieser den Leichnam vor den Sturz in die Zombie-Herde aufzuhalten. Ohne Erfolg. Durch das Gewicht verlor auch Glenn seinen sicheren Platz auf der Mülltonne. In den nächsten Sekunden sah es so aus, als würden die Beißer Glenn wortwörtlich zerreißen und ihm seine Gedärme aus dem Körper reißen. Dabei hatte Glenn Glück im Unglück. Der Leichnam von Nicholas landete beim Sturz auf ihn und wurde stattdessen von den Beißern zerfetzt. Damit schafft es sein Tod auch nur in diese Liste, weil wir eigentlich dachten, dass es Glenn trifft. (Sorry, Nicholas.)
2. Hershel Greene (4x8)
Wenn man Cast und Fans fragt, welchen Charakter sie gerne zurück ins Leben holen würden, dann fällt sein Name besonders oft: Hershel Greene, der Vater von Maggie und Beth Greene. Während die Welt im Chaos versank, lebte Hershel auf seiner Farm noch immer in einer kleinen Seifenblase. Er beschützte all jene, die dort bei ihm lebten, nicht nur seine Familie. Die Todesrate auf der Greene Farm erhöhte sich drastisch, ab dem Moment, in dem Rick Grimes mit dem verwundeten Carl auf seiner Türschwelle auftauchte. Hershel hat uns vor allem eines gelehrt: hin und wieder kann man heikle Situationen auch mit Worten lösen. Beim Governor war dieses Vorhaben leider ohne Erfolg. Vor den Augen seiner Töchter, Rick und den anderen Überlebenden, wurde Hershel enthauptet. Leider war es kein glatter Schlag, der ihn sofort tötete, was alles noch grausamer machte.
1. Beth Greene (5x8)
Beth ist in "The Walking Dead" erwachsen geworden. Aus dem Teenager, der sich das Leben nehmen wollte, wurde schließlich eine junge Frau, die ihren Platz in der Zombie-Apokalypse fand. Daryl Dixon hat ihr dabei geholfen und wird seitdem nicht umsonst von vielen Fans mit ihr geshippt (Stichwort: Bethyl). Nachdem sie entführt und in einem Krankenhaus gefangen gehalten wurde, schien ihre tragische Geschichte ein Happy End zu finden, als Ricks Leute sie ausfindig machen konnten. Ihre Entführer waren dazu bereit, Beth gegen Noah einzutauschen. Alles wäre so schön nach Plan gelaufen, wenn Beth nicht plötzlich eine Schere gezückt und damit die Polizistin Dawn Lerner angegriffen hätte. Dawn hat - aus Reflex - geschossen und Beth dabei tödlich verletzt. Kaum freuten sich die Zuschauer, dass Beth wieder zum Rest der Gruppe stößt, mussten sie ihren unerwarteten Tod beweinen. Einige Tränen flossen (zumindest bei mir) auch im Anschluss, als Daryl die tote Beth auf Händen aus dem Krankenhaus trägt und Maggie die Szene betritt und Beths Leichnam erkennt.
Bonus: ??? (6x16)
Wir wissen nicht, wer im Finale von "The Walking Dead" Staffel 6 stirbt, aber so viel ist schon jetzt klar: es wird tragisch. Bereits die letzte Folge war eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt mit viel Nervenkitzel. In den letzten Sekunden der finalen Episode suchte sich Negan ein Opfer aus Ricks Gruppe und erschlug diese Person - vor den Augen der anderen - mit seinem Baseballschläger Lucille. Der Zuschauer erlebte all das aus Sicht des Opfers, während die Schreie von Ricks Leuten die Nacht schwängerten. Zur Premiere der 7. Staffel "The Walking Dead" werden wir all das noch einmal durchleben müssen. Dann mit der Gewissheit, welchen Charakter es erwischt hat.
